US President Donald Trump gave an interview to the American Fox News channel following a three-day state visit to China for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. About the key statements of the politician — in the material of Izvestia.

Relations with China

According to Trump, China should build its enterprises in the United States to avoid trade duties. He noted that American employees should also be hired to work at Chinese enterprises.

"If they want to avoid duties, they will build in the United States," the politician said.

He also did not rule out that China may purchase 750 aircraft from Boeing as part of the deal. Earlier, the American leader spoke about China's intention to purchase 200 Boeing aircraft.

"I told [companies] Boeing and General Electric, <... If they do a good job, we can bring the number [of planes] to 750," Trump said.

Position on the situation around Taiwan

The politician, speaking about the situation around Taiwan, pointed out that it would be wise for Beijing and Taipei to normalize their relations. However, he did not specify exactly what steps should be taken to de-escalate.

"It would be very wise for Taiwan to cool down a bit. It would also be very wise for China to cool down a bit," Trump said.

As Trump pointed out, after talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, he did not approve a deal to supply weapons to Taiwan worth $14 billion.

"I haven't approved it yet. Let's see what happens. I can do it, or I can't do it," he said.

Trump stressed that he would not want to go to war against China if Taiwan declared independence. He expressed the hope that the situation would not worsen against the background of disagreements between the parties.

"I'll say this: I don't want anyone to follow the path of independence, because, as you know, it was assumed that we would need to travel 9,5 thousand miles (more than 15,2 thousand km - Ed.) to wage war. I don't want that. I would like them to calm down. I want China to calm down," Trump said.

Conflict in the Middle East

Trump noted that during the talks, Xi Jinping offered to help with the Iran problem, but he refused.

"I also said that we don't need any help. [I] did not ask for this," the White House host clarified.

According to Trump, he has no doubt that the United States will be able to achieve Iran's surrender. He did not specify exactly how he would achieve such an outcome.

"Yes, I have no doubt," the US president said in response to a question.

Using oil from Venezuela

As the American leader noted, the United States has earned "a fortune" from oil from Venezuela.

"We've made a fortune with their oil," he said.

Trump returned to the United States on May 15 (May 16 Moscow time). He got off Flight one at Joint Base Andrews. The White House press service also posted a video on the social network X, in which the politician descends the plane ramp.
