Kim Jong-un meets with participants of the IX Congress of United Trade Unions of Korea

General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), Chairman of the State Affairs of the DPRK Kim Jong-un held a meeting with participants of the IX Congress of the United Trade Unions of Korea. This was reported on May 15 by the Central Telegraphic Agency of Korea (KCNA)

It is noted that Kim Jong-un met with the newly elected chairman and deputy chairmen of the Central Committee United Trade Unions of the ninth convocation. The Head of State congratulated them and appreciated the efforts of both honored executives and trade union members.

The leader of the DPRK noted the great progress that has been achieved since the previous VIII Congress of trade Unions.

"Kim Jong-un noted that although the era may change over time and generations will be replaced, nowhere will you find such a reliable and dedicated team as our working class, which firmly defends the party's cause with steadfast unshakeable beliefs. He said that the Central Committee of the party, believing in the steadfast revolutionism, patriotic spirit and dedication of all working people, especially the heroic working class, is boldly launching a struggle for a new stage of change for the amazing development of the state," the agency reports.

On May 13, Kim Jong-un also personally visited a number of military-industrial enterprises. He expressed appreciation for the patriotism and dedication of the defense industry workers, who have achieved record levels in the production of various types of shells and cartridges. KCNA reported on March 5 that Kim Jong-un visited the new destroyer Choe Hyun and got acquainted with the progress of its tests and crew training.
