Russian troops in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) are actively advancing and repelling counterattacks by a numerically superior enemy. This is exactly what happened during the assault battles near the village of Novopavlovka, the details of which were told on May 14 to a correspondent of Izvestia by soldiers of the 239th tank Regiment of the 90th Guards Tank Division of the Center group.

"The enemy was attacking, there was no communication with our comrades. The connection was interrupted, we didn't know what the reason was. 20 militants — we repelled this onslaught, detained the enemy, some retreated. Then they started riding motorcycles and ATVs. We also smashed them, fought back," said Sergey Mirsitov, senior operator of the FPV drone, in an interview with Dmitry Astrakhan.

He stressed that the fighters are in constant motion, and there is always work for the UAV operators. Somewhere you need to cover your own people, somewhere you need to bring them water, because this can only be done by air. There is also a special group of mavik-type drone operators that guides the attack aircraft while on the move. Work is going on around the clock, regardless of the weather.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces also use drones, threatening fighters from the sky. Yevgeny Pankov, a targeting officer, told how an enemy drone severely wounded the commander of a mortar platoon, who moved to a firing position to perform a combat mission.

"As they approached, they were attacked by enemy FPV drones. The platoon commander was struck by a multitude of fragments. I decided to move there and organize the work of the mortar. First of all, the platoon commander was evacuated — everything is fine with him. Then he organized a service. They put up a mortar and supported our assault groups," Pankov shared his memories.

You always have to defend yourself from Ukrainian drones. According to Pankov, there has never been a case when the UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine would not fly up during a combat mission. Therefore, each squad is divided into two groups: while one hits the target, the second guards the sky and shoots down the "birds" (enemy drones).

Mevlud Dzhamarshvili, deputy commander of the assault detachment of the 239th tank Regiment of the 90th Tank Division of the Center group of forces, reported earlier on May 14 that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had lost almost the entire platoon of soldiers in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The exact number of eliminated Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters has not yet been announced.
