- The Cuban Foreign Minister warned of a possible "bloodbath" due to threats from the United States.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez warned on May 13 that a possible US attack on the republic could lead to a humanitarian catastrophe, a large number of victims and a so-called bloodbath.
"The US military aggression against Cuba would provoke a real humanitarian catastrophe, a bloodbath," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
According to Rodriguez, in the event of military aggression, both Cubans and Americans would suffer. The Cuban Foreign Minister also stressed that Washington has no reason to attack the country, since the island state does not pose a threat.
The Associated Press reported on May 9 that the United States does not intend to invade Cuba. It was noted that Washington is not considering such an option, despite repeated threats. However, the options for military intervention remain in force.
At the same time, the Politico newspaper reported on May 3 that the administration of the American leader Donald Trump is considering the possibility of using military force in Cuba to carry out transformations in the country. Similar initiatives enjoy the support of the Cuban diaspora in the United States.
