There have been 294 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.

Over the past day, 249 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 12 people were killed and 294 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on May 13 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

16 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which 20 road users, including three children, required medical assistance. Eight bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.

As a result of 72 accidents, 26 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 46 outside their area of operation, four pedestrians were killed, 68 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 20 child pedestrians, 15 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside pedestrian crossings.

44 accidents involving minors were also registered, as a result of which 50 young road users were injured, including 18 child passengers and three motor transport drivers. There are no dead children.

The State Traffic Inspectorate called on parents to strictly monitor and stop attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel on their own, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of accessing the keys of cars, mopeds and motorcycles, prohibiting the management of cars and motor vehicles without rights and driving skills. Administrative responsibility is provided for providing the opportunity to drive a car or motor transport to children who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category.

"We also remind you that mopeds and motorcycles on public roads can be driven no earlier than the age of 16 after completing training at a motorcycle school and obtaining a driver's license. Cross—country motorcycles and pitbikes, which are sports equipment, should be used only on specialized tracks and only for motorsport, including for young athletes. On ordinary roads, as well as in populated areas, movement with their help is strictly prohibited," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
