TV presenter Vladimir Molchanov was the mind, honor and conscience of Russian television. This was announced on May 13 in an interview with Izvestia by documentary filmmaker Ivan Tsybin.

"For me, Molchanov is the mind, honor and conscience not only of our television, but of our entire country and, in general, probably, of the world. Because it's hard to remember anyone more honest, decent, intelligent, and phenomenally gifted than Molchanov," Tsybin said.

He noted that Molchanov was treated with respect by people of completely different views and social strata, and the TV presenter himself was able to unite people.

"Why did the audience love him so much? He could talk to them from the screen. And his voice, his communication with the audience reached every person, every viewer," the director shared.

According to Tsybin, Molchanov was able to listen and get into his interlocutors, because he was a warm and wonderful person. The director added that he had recently communicated with the TV presenter and noted that he was greatly upset by his daughter's departure.

"He didn't show it, he somehow tried, in general, to hold on. But it was clear that, of course, the departure of the only daughter was a terrible story. And he really asked that no one know about it," he said.

There will never be another person like Molchanov, Tsybin concluded and stressed that the TV presenter made everyone's life better, kinder and brighter.

Molchanov's death at the age of 75 became known earlier that day. Molchanov was known for the programs "Time", "90 minutes" and "Before and after midnight". He was also the author of about 20 documentaries, and in the period from 1975 to 1981 he was engaged in journalistic investigations of Nazi crimes committed during the Great Patriotic War (WWII).

Sports commentator Georgy Cherdantsev, in turn, noted that Molchanov never showed confusion in the frame and was able to keep his face under any circumstances. The journalist, along with Molchanov, hosted the morning broadcasts of the Olympic channel at the London Olympics in 2012. According to him, it was a real master class for him.
