TV presenter Sharapova called Molchanov one of the greatest professionals in Russia.

"I believe that this is one of the greatest professionals, journalists of our country's television. He was a great presenter, he wrote wonderful texts. I think he's a man who makes sense to look up to our modern colleagues, and he taught at the university for a long time. And I'm just happy for these guys who listened to him," she said.

Sharapova clarified that Molchanov now has only one grandson left, who works as an editor on the Kultura TV channel. The journalist's wife, Consuelo Segura, who was a Cuban—born director, died back in 2022, and their daughter died three weeks ago.

"I think he couldn't stand it and just walked away on his own," she summed up.

He was known to the Russian audience for his participation in the programs "Time", "90 minutes" and "Before and after midnight". The professional was also the author of about 20 documentaries and was involved in investigations of Nazi crimes committed during the Great Patriotic War.
