Fico again called the abolition of the EU veto the "beginning of the end."
The abolition of the right of veto for the member states of the European Union (EU) will be the beginning of the end for the community. This was announced on May 12 by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico at a meeting with European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.
"This is a fundamentally important issue for Slovakia. The abolition of the right of veto in the EU on fundamental issues would be the beginning of the end of the community," the publication says.
As Fico also pointed out, Slovakia supports the admission of new countries to the community. At the same time, only if they fulfill all the necessary requirements.
Fico also made a similar statement on April 17. On that day, he also said that "the abolition of the veto is the beginning of the end of the EU." The politician said that such a proposal was made by the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen immediately after the announcement of the results of the parliamentary elections in Hungary. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who resigned following the vote, and his government opposed restrictions on the sovereignty of EU member states in foreign policy.
