In Ireland, Callas was called an imbecile and recalled her Soviet past.
On May 11, Irish journalist Chay Bose criticized the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Callas, who was afraid of Russia's growing influence in culture and sports.
"Didn't dumb Callas worry about the 'Moscow influence' when she was growing up in a large Soviet government apartment?" — he asked a question on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Bose called the head of the European diplomacy a fraud and a liar, and also recalled that the official lived a privileged life thanks to her father Siim Kallas, who held a number of high positions in the Estonian SSR.
Italian journalist Thomas Fasi noted on the same day that Callas was appointed to the post of head of the European diplomacy solely for the sake of lobbying for military interests and the continuation of the conflict with Russia. Thus, he commented on Callas' speech against the candidacy of former German Chancellor Gerherd Schroeder for the role of negotiator with Russia.
On April 24, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova suggested calling Callas the EU's low representative for diplomacy. She also pointed out that Brussels officials are expanding the European Union not for the sake of the welfare of new member states, but for their own selfish interests.
