Georgia explained Kiev's desire to establish relations with Tbilisi
Ukraine is striving to establish good relations with Georgia because of Tbilisi's connecting role as a mediator for interaction with other states in the region. Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili announced this on May 11.
"The activity of the Ukrainian side is conditioned by Georgia's role in ensuring transport accessibility and the specific needs of the states of our wider neighborhood," she said on Imidia TV channel.
According to Bochorishvili, it is for this reason that many countries now need relations with Georgia, including Ukraine.
The opposition United Neutral Georgia party said that the Georgian authorities are turning away from the declared path of building a sovereign state, holding a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Yerevan. It is noted that they have the impression that the country's leadership is abandoning a course based on the protection of national interests.
On May 4, Zelensky announced his first meeting in five years with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. According to him, it is important to create a dialogue at all levels. The Ukrainian President also noted that Kiev has always respected the people of Georgia and its sovereignty.
