- Soccer players from North Korea and South Korea did not shake hands before the Asian Cup match
North and South Korean football players did not shake hands before the Asian Cup Under-17 Girls' group stage match. This was reported on May 10 by the Chosun Daily portal with reference to the Japanese edition of The Ansher.
It is specified that the women's national team of the Republic of Korea under 17 years old played the final match of the group stage against the DPRK team. The meeting was held at the Taihu Sports Center in Suzhou, China. Before the start of the game, an unusual situation occurred: the football players abandoned the traditional greeting.
"There was no greeting or touching between the players," the publication says.
The publication noted that the atmosphere between the teams was tense.
On May 6, the Reuters news agency reported that the DPRK had excluded from the draft of the new constitution a clause proclaiming a desire to unite with South Korea. It was clarified that the new version of the Constitution of the DPRK was adopted in March at a meeting of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Republic.
