- The United States has allowed the possibility of resolving the issue of the nuclear deal on Iran with weapons
The United States admits that the issue of Iran's nuclear program cannot be resolved through negotiations. This was announced on May 10 by Energy Secretary Chris Wright to CBS News.
"Ending the Iranian nuclear program is a completely different matter, and that is exactly what has yet to be achieved, and again, most likely through negotiations, although this is not necessary," he said.
Wright noted that almost all the military goals that the United States set for itself were achieved in about five weeks. According to him, a solution to Iran's nuclear program has not yet been found. The Minister did not rule out the use of armed methods.
On May 6, Al Arabiya TV channel, citing sources from Pakistan, reported that representatives of Tehran and Washington are closer to signing a peace agreement than ever before — the parties have agreed on most of the provisions of the draft under discussion. It was clarified that US President Donald Trump's special envoy Stephen Witkoff had already held indirect talks with representatives of Tehran. The latter, in turn, allegedly even confirmed the lack of desire to possess nuclear weapons.
On the same day, the head of the White House called the export of Iranian nuclear fuel to the United States one of the conditions of a potential deal. Speaking about the text of the agreement, he pointed out the absence of a clause on the use of Tehran's underground facilities and confirmed his intention to ease sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
