A parade in honor of the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII) has ended on Red Square in Moscow. According to tradition, Russian President Vladimir Putin, foreign guests, WWII veterans and participants in the special operation were present at the celebration.
The celebration began with the removal of the Victory Banner and the national flag of the Russian Federation to the sounds of the song "Holy War". For the first time, the parade was commanded by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, Hero of Russia Andrei Mordvichev, and the celebration was hosted by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov.
The head of the military department reported to the President of the Russian Federation on the readiness of the troops of the Moscow Military District. After that, Putin's speech began.
The Head of State congratulated all the participants, as well as the participants of the SVR, on Victory Day, on "our sacred, bright and most important holiday."
"We celebrate it with feelings of pride and love for our country, with an understanding of our common duty to protect the interests and future of the Motherland. We celebrate with sincere filial gratitude to the great generation of winners. We sacredly honor the precepts and legacy of the soldiers of victory," Putin said.
Putin said that no matter how the techniques and methods of combat change, the main thing remains unchanged — the fate of the country is decided by people, soldiers and factory workers, workers of rural enterprises, gunsmiths and military personnel, doctors and teachers, cultural figures and clergymen, volunteers, entrepreneurs, philanthropists.
After the president's speech, footage of the training of the Russian military in the SVR zone was shown on the screens. Then, parade troops of military schools, special operation participants and soldiers of the Korean People's Army marched through Red Square. For the first time, representatives of the unmanned systems troops marched on foot.
Then the aerial part of the celebration took place. A wedge of Su-30 and MiG-29 fighter jets performed demonstration maneuvers to the solemn music of a military band. Then Su-25 attack aircraft flew over the capital, painting the sky in the colors of the Russian flag.
The parade ended with the performance of the march "Farewell of the Slavs" by a military orchestra.
