The speech delivered on May 9 by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Red Square on the occasion of Victory Day celebrations lasted about eight minutes.
Before starting it, he talked with the veterans. In his speech, the Russian leader recalled that June 22, 1941, is one of the most tragic and mournful dates in the history of Russia, and 2026 marks the 85th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War (WWII). He stated that Victory Day is a sacred and main holiday for Russia, which is celebrated with a sense of pride and love.
Addressing the audience, Putin stressed that the Russian Federation's cause was just and that victory had always been and would always be hers. He pointed to the unity of Russians and the greatness of the Soviet people in defeating fascism.
This year's parade involved calculations of participants in a special military operation (SVO), soldiers of the Korean People's Army (KPA) of the DPRK, as well as representatives of the unmanned systems forces for the first time in history.
