- Zakharova declared the deprivation of the inhabitants of the Baltic countries of historical memory
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on May 9 that residents of the Baltic countries began to realize that they were being deprived of their historical memory.
"In the Baltic states, people are resisting. They know the history, they understand what they want to do with them. They don't even want to deceive them, they want to flash them. And they want to convey this truth to their children, to their future generations. They want to convey the fire of truth," the diplomat said in an interview with TASS.
She noted that this is not about political views, but about countering "dehumanization" and attempts to make people submissive.
Zakharova also pointed out that those in the Baltics who really resist these processes are being persecuted. According to her, such people face serious risks as they try to resist the fate imposed on them and preserve the historical truth for future generations.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on May 8 that Western countries are irresponsible about the results of the Great Patriotic War (WWII), which are also not so revered. He recalled that it was the result of this historic event that laid the foundation for the entire further development of the world. In his speech, the Russian Foreign Minister also mentioned German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who, according to him, has repeatedly stated his intention to make his army the strongest in Europe again.
