- The State Traffic Inspectorate announced raids across the Russian Federation on the second May holidays
On Friday and the second May holidays (May 8-11), traffic police officers will conduct massive and continuous checks on the country's roads and identify drunk driving in an enhanced mode. The regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate announced the implementation of preventive measures.
Raids to identify drunk motorists will take place in Novgorod, Penza, Magadan, Tula, Kursk, Tver, Kirov, Ulyanovsk, Ryazan, Lipetsk regions, as well as in the Komi Republic and other regions of the country.
On the eve of holidays and weekends, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminded about the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. The department called on citizens to report to the police about drivers who got behind the wheel in an inadequate condition. Prompt response measures will be taken immediately for all such requests, the department stressed.
"Alcohol and driving are incompatible: drunk driving leads to the most serious consequences. You are not putting yourself, your passengers, or other road users at risk by driving drunk. Exclude driving a car, motorcycle or other transport after festive feasts and drinking alcoholic beverages," Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for the Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, urged motorists.
The traffic Police recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entails the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver is already facing criminal liability.
A new regulation has been approved in Moscow as part of the standard of courier services. As noted on May 8, it guarantees that, thanks to the mandatory introduction of telematics IoT modules, the maximum speed of SIM, bicycles and mopeds is 25 km/h and it will now be technically impossible to ignore the "slow zone".
