- Putin will discuss prospects of relations between the two countries with Lukashenko over dinner on May 8.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will meet on Friday, May 8, to discuss the prospects for relations between the two countries. This was announced on May 7 by presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
"As for Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko, our president will meet with him tomorrow evening for a friendly dinner, during which they will discuss, of course, the prospects for further development in our bilateral relations," Ushakov said during a conversation with reporters.
He also noted that during the conversation the presidents would discuss other regional issues. Ushakov stressed that the talks were scheduled for May 8 instead of May 9, as Lukashenko had already scheduled meetings with leaders of other countries during the holidays.
Earlier in the day, Putin's aide said that some foreign figures themselves had expressed a desire to participate in the May 9 events in Moscow. He noted that military personnel will march on foot at the Victory Day Parade, planes will fly by, and the President of Russia will also speak, but there will be no demonstration of military equipment this year. President of Abkhazia Badra Gunba, Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Laos Tonglong Sisulit and others are expected among the foreign guests.
