- MFA: Russia does not speak from the position of aggression, but from the position of responding to aggression
Moscow is not acting from a position of aggression, but based on the need for an inevitable response to the actions of the Kiev regime. This was announced on Wednesday, May 6, by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova, commenting on the likelihood of retaliatory strikes by Russia on the territory of Ukraine.
"We are not speaking from a position of aggression, we are speaking from a position of an inevitable response to aggression," she said in a comment posted on the Foreign Ministry's Telegram channel.
In addition, she noted that the European Union (EU) countries are mistaken if they think they can silence the threats of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, about attacks on Moscow during the Victory Day celebrations on May 9.
Earlier in the day, The Kyiv Independent reported that Ukraine rejected Russia's proposal for a truce on Victory Day on May 8th and 9th. Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma's defense committee, said that in the event of any claim by Ukraine to the security of the Victory Day Parade in the capital, the Russian military would be ready to strike at the center of Kiev.
On May 4, Zelensky hinted at a possible drone strike on Moscow on Victory Day. On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to declare a truce in honor of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The Russian Defense Ministry expressed the hope that Ukraine would also join the ceasefire.
