The court released Ufa Mayor Mavliev under house arrest
Ufa Mayor Ratmir Mavliev, who was arrested in a case of abuse of office and corruption on an especially large scale, was released by a court decision from a pre-trial detention center (SIZO) under house arrest. This was announced on May 6 by a representative of the joint press service of the courts of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
"The Court of Appeal found no grounds for applying the strictest preventive measure in the form of detention. In this regard, the court concluded that the goals of the preliminary investigation bodies can be achieved by choosing a milder preventive measure in the form of house arrest," the statement on the Telegram channel says.
It is noted that the authorized persons, when considering the complaint of the accused, took into account the presence of his minor children. Mavliev, accused in accordance with paragraphs "c, d, e" of Part 3 of Article 286 ("Abuse of official authority") and Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. ("Receiving a bribe"), will remain under house arrest until June 28, 2026.
The head of Ufa was detained on April 28. Then the press service of the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Bashkortostan stated that he was suspected of committing illegal actions aimed at alienating municipal land. The area in question stretches over 1.3 thousand square meters and was assigned to one of the city's sanatoriums.
Two days later, a correspondent from Izvestia, who visited the hall where the Mavliev case was being considered, said that the mayor had been taken into custody. At that time, the court sentenced the defendant to stay in jail until July 11, 2026.
