The prosecutor's office demanded tougher punishment for the ex-partner of blogger Valeria Chekalina (Lerchek) and her ex-husband Artem Roman Vishnyak, convicted in the case of illegal withdrawal of funds abroad. This was reported on May 6 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

The representative of the state prosecution asked to change the earlier verdict and appoint Vishnyak four years in a penal colony instead of 2.5 years.

Another criminal case against Lercek and her ex-husband Artyom Chekalin was initiated in October last year. They, along with their accomplice Vishnyak, were suspected of illegally withdrawing over 250 million rubles from Russia to the UAE using forged documents. Chekalin and Lercek denied involvement in the withdrawal of funds abroad, but the man pleaded guilty to violating tax laws.

In February of this year, Chekalina gave birth to her fourth child with Argentine choreographer Luis Squicciarini. She was hospitalized the next day. Later, he said that the blogger, who had cancer cells during one of the examinations, began to undergo radiation therapy. Later, on March 16, the blogger was released from house arrest, and the criminal proceedings were suspended due to cancer, which was detected in the person involved.
