Turkey has unveiled its first Yıldırımhan ICBM with a range of 6,000 km.
The Turkish Ministry of Defense has unveiled its first Yıldırımhan intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), which is capable of reaching speeds of up to Mach 25 in the air. This was reported on May 5 by the Haber 7 TV channel.
"The Yıldırımhan liquid—fuel missile is currently our missile with the longest range. <...> Let no one doubt that, if necessary, we will use it without hesitation," the channel quoted Defense Minister Yashar Guler as saying.
The presentation of the missile took place within the framework of the SAHA 2026 defense industry exhibition in Istanbul. According to the stated characteristics, the rocket can reach speeds of up to 25 Mach in the air (about 8.5 km per second). The range of application is 6 thousand km.
Political scientist and publicist Georgy Dibrov told Izvestia on April 15 that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statements to Israel about his readiness to launch military operations to protect the Palestinians should be considered as an element of geopolitical pressure, rather than direct preparations for conflict.
