Drones and laser weapons will be used to protect the Russian state border.

Interceptor drones and laser weapons were included in the forces on duty to protect the Russian state border in the airspace. This follows from the resolution published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

Special radio equipment and automated systems for radar reconnaissance are included in the duty forces. They are designed to provide information about the aerospace situation to the control bodies of the Aerospace Forces and other branches of the armed forces, TASS reports.

The list also includes anti-aircraft missile, artillery and machine-gun systems, airplanes, helicopters, ships, and electronic warfare systems. Special weapons are mentioned separately — interceptor drones, radio frequency weapon systems, laser installations for combating drones and unified launch systems capable of resisting means of aerospace attack.

On April 28, the Popular Front reported that Russia had developed a new Bolt interceptor drone, which is a relatively cheap analogue of traditional air defense to repel massive attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). A representative of the development company said that Bolt is part of the Ploshchad-PVO system, which combines detection equipment, drone ports, launchers and interceptor drones themselves into a single network.
