United Russia has again opposed lowering the non-penalized speed limit
The United Russia Party opposes lowering the non-penalized speed limit. On April 30, Vladimir Yakushev, Secretary of the General Council of the party, recalled this.
"This is not the first attempt to amend the law to collect more fines from drivers. United Russia consistently defends the interests of motorists and will strictly block such initiatives," the party's press service quoted Yakushev as saying.
Earlier, the Traffic Management Center announced the technical readiness of the cameras to reduce the non-penalized speed limit from 20 to 2-3 km/h. Mikhail Kizlyk, the general director of the organization, said this in an interview with RBC Radio.
As Daniil Bessarabov, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation, emphasized earlier in April, the United Russia faction does not support lowering the non-penalized speed limit, which currently stands at 20 km/h.
Previously, the Russian Interior Ministry also stated that since 2019, proposals to reduce the non-fined speed limit have been repeatedly made by representatives of various organizations and experts in the road transport industry, but the ministry has opposed and opposes such an initiative.
