Last Tuesday, Russia transferred 20,000 tons of mineral fertilizers to Niger free of charge. This was announced on April 30 by the Russian Ambassador to Niger, Viktor Voropaev.

"The ceremony of handing over 20,000 tons of mineral fertilizers to partners from Niger took place on April 28 at the site of the country's Ministry of Agriculture. This is Russian humanitarian aid. The fertilizers were accepted by the Minister of Agriculture of Niger, Mahaman Usman," he told RIA Novosti.

Voropayev recalled that in December last year, Russia also transferred 20,000 tons of wheat to Niger. Before that, in March, more than 350 tons of sunflower oil were transferred through the United Nations World Food Program (UN).

According to preliminary estimates, in the first quarter of 2026, Russia exported 9.6 million tons of mineral fertilizers worth $3.6 billion. Compared to the same period in 2025, the volume of supplies increased by 16% in value terms. Brazil ($340 million, 14%) and India ($338 million, 27%) remain the largest importers. Ethiopia came in third place (transit through Djibouti) ($186 million, 2.7 times more).
