- In the Moscow region, power engineers continue to eliminate the effects of the cyclone
The power engineers of the ROSSETI Moscow Region company are eliminating the effects of the cyclone in the Moscow region, work will continue at night. The company's press service announced this on Monday, April 27.
It is noted that by evening the company's specialists had restored power supply to more than 70% of consumers, disrupted by a powerful cyclone with abnormal snowfall and wind gusts up to 23 m/s.
"During the work, the power engineers repaired most of the damaged power lines, removed 150 trees from the wires that had fallen from the safety zones of the transmission lines. 206 brigades consisting of 781 people and 198 units of special equipment are involved in the work. Additional backup sources of electricity supply (REES) are being used, 130 of them are involved," the Moscow City News Agency quoted the message.
The company reported that by now several settlements in the north and south of the Moscow region remain de-energized. The power engineers will work around the clock until the power supply to consumers is fully restored.
Earlier, the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation said that the weather danger level in Moscow had been lowered from orange to yellow, IA Regnum reports.
It is noted that the yellow level, signaling a potential danger, will be in effect until 21:00 Moscow time, writes Moscow 24. One of the reasons was the expected strengthening of the westerly wind, as a result of which the air velocity in the capital will be up to 15-20 m/s at night and up to 17 m/s during the day.
Andrey Vorobyov, Governor of the Moscow Region, announced on April 27 that temporary power outages caused by bad weather had been recorded in a number of districts in the region. All public utilities have been switched to an enhanced mode of operation, writes RIAMO. On the same day, representatives of the Hydrometeorological Center declared an orange weather hazard level in the capital and its region due to heavy snow.
Roscosmos published satellite images at the same time. Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, commenting on what is happening in the region, said that the harsh winter weather will continue.
