On April 26, REN TV viewers will be able to assess all the dangers of life in post-war Leningrad. The channel has a big premiere, all episodes of the retro detective "Rooks", starting at 15:00.

The most attentive viewers can take part in the contest and receive prizes. Correspondent Natalia Oskerko in the Izvestia story told what sacrifices had to be made in order to achieve historical authenticity in the film.

When the victory salute has thundered, but the bloody trail of fascism has not yet cooled, the villains are still committing atrocities, but on the sly. Even in this war, after the war, there is a place for humanity and true love. The new series "Rooks" takes the viewer to Leningrad in 1947. Captain Ratnikov of the criminal investigation Department is investigating a series of murders. All traces lead to a children's concentration camp, where young prisoners were turned into experimental subjects.

It turns out that many Nazi henchmen are at large, and the warden's assistant, Gunther Seiler, has successfully assimilated into the Soviet Union, started a family, and works on a fish farm, but is still blinded by hatred and greed for profit.

The scale is impressive, with more than 200 characters, historical technique, and accuracy in detail. Filming took place at different times of the year.

"There are more than 150 locations in the series: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Leningrad region. And this is, for example, the attic of the University of Economics, the actors and cameramen are right on the roof right now," the correspondent showed.

An action-packed detective story with explosions, shootouts, chases and reincarnations.

"For me, it's a perfect Western. I'm acting in my mind, imagining that I'm acting in a Western, which makes me even more interested," said actor Artem Tkachenko, who plays Ratnikov.

The actors do not hide the fact that filming was not easy. Some had to radically change their roles, while others had to overcome their fears.

"I'm very afraid of sudden loud noises, every shot I just flinch. Internally, I hope, outwardly it is not visible," explained the performer of the role of Oksana, actress Daria Balabanova.

"When my hero is crawling wounded on the deck, the director looked at it and said: let's add textures. The whole deck was filled with rotten sprats, and I had to crawl on it, that's what I remember for a long time," explained Alexey Makarov, the performer of the role of Gunther Vedernikov.

It was also important to accurately convey the atmosphere of the time when people were trying to find the strength to live despite everything that had happened.

"Scorched by the war, but at the same time honestly fulfilling their duty, despite a difficult life and a difficult fate," added the performer of the role of Emma Markovna, actress Evgenia Dmitrieva.

In the swirling maze of events, the past keeps coming up with questions that still have no answers. The series "Rooks" was created by order of REN TV and the online platform Wink. One of the producers of the project is Vladimir Tyulin, General Director of the Izvestia News Center and the REN TV channel. It is also one of the last works of Alexei Pimanov, who passed away on April 23. The exciting story will premiere on April 26 on REN TV.

The creators of "Rooks" paid a lot of attention to the historical authenticity of the series. As reported on April 24, the decorators painstakingly recreated the atmosphere of 1947 in Ratnikov's office. Interior items, tables, cabinets were brought into the room, and the map — the exact plan of Leningrad — was printed specially in the printing house.
