Citizens of Ukraine and Latvia were arrested in Germany on suspicion of sabotage.
Two people were detained in Bavaria on suspicion of espionage for the purpose of sabotage. One of the detainees is a citizen of Ukraine, and the other is a citizen of Latvia. This was reported on April 23 by the German newspaper Zeit, citing a message from the Bavarian Criminal Police department.
"Fake identity cards, cameras, a drone, GPS trackers, walkie-talkies, as well as several mobile phones and SIM cards were found in the possession of a 43-year-old Ukrainian and a 45-year—old Latvian. <...> They are suspected of acting 'on behalf of an organization or institution outside Germany,'" it said. in the material.
The authors of the material clarified that the detainees do not have a permanent place of residence in Germany. Traffic police officers stopped a car with Latvian license plates for a routine check. After that, law enforcement officers found suspicious objects in the car. The police believe that the suspects may have been planning a sabotage, but they have not yet named specific customers.
