The Ukrainian side may block the Druzhba pipeline after receiving a European loan of €90 billion. This was reported on April 22 by the German newspaper Die Weltwoche.

The publication clarified that the "self-repair" of the pipeline is a "miracle" that occurred immediately after the defeat of the party of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in the elections. Now, as the author noted, not only oil will flow along the highway, but also "financial flows" in the form of a loan from the European Union (EU).

"Of course, nothing can be guaranteed. Slovakia will give its permission only when the first drop of oil arrives. Even then, the flow can quickly dry up again," the publication says.

In addition, the author of the publication wondered about the need for the EU to finance a state that intentionally harms its citizens.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced yesterday that the repair work on the Druzhba oil pipeline section has been completed. According to the Ukrainian leader, the specialists provided the basic conditions for the restoration of the system and equipment. Zelensky also expressed the hope that the European Union (EU) will take steps to form thematic clusters for Kiev.

Hungarian Minister for EU Affairs Janos Boca confirmed on April 20 that the Ukrainian side would resume oil supplies from Russia to Hungary via the pipeline on April 21. He clarified that after the official notification, the Ukrainian operator will contact the Hungarian company MOL.
