The president of the French Senate criticized Macron's budget policy
French President Emmanuel Macron's approach to the state budget is stifling the country. This was announced on April 22 by Chairman of the Senate of the Republic Gerard Larcher.
"Today we are paying the price for inaction over the past 10 years. <...> This is, in a sense, the result of Emmanuel Macron's two five—year plans. <...> They leave France in a state of hypoxia anyway," Larcher said on BFMTV.
He noted that the authorities ordered spending cuts of €6 billion due to the large government debt instead of supporting the industries that have suffered the most from the conflict in the Middle East. At the same time, due to the huge level of debt, according to him, France will not be able to mitigate all the consequences of the crisis.
Yesterday, the leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, criticized a new loan to Ukraine from the French government in the amount of €17 billion against the background of planned collection of funds from the population to cover losses in the Middle East.
On April 15, the head of the French National Unification Party, Jordan Bardella, noted that financial assistance to Ukraine is detrimental to social programs and the well-being of citizens. According to him, citizens are regularly urged to "tighten their belts," while the state, according to him, is unable to reduce its own costs by even 1%.
