- Iran's permanent representative to the UN named the conditions for continuing negotiations with the United States in Islamabad
Iran admits that negotiations with the United States may take place again in Pakistan if Washington lifts the naval blockade of the Islamic Republic. This was announced on April 22 by Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Amir Saeed Iravani.
"The US naval blockade is a violation of the ceasefire, and we have told them that they must end this blockade. If the blockade is lifted, I think the next round of negotiations will take place in Islamabad," SNN quoted him as saying.
Iravani added that if the American side takes the path of negotiations to resolve the conflict, Iran will welcome it. However, if the United States chooses the path of military action, then the Iranian military will be ready for such a development.
On April 21, US President Donald Trump extended the ceasefire in the conflict with Iran at the request of Pakistan until the submission of Tehran's proposals and the completion of the negotiation process. The US military in the Middle East region remains on alert, and the naval blockade of Iranian ports will continue, the American leader added.
Iranian MP Ahmad Naderi said at the same time that Iran would not hold a new round of talks with the United States until Washington lifted the naval blockade. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stressed that the blockade of Iranian ports is a violation of the ceasefire.
