According to the results of the first quarter of 2026, 198.3 thousand new SUV segment vehicles, which includes crossovers and SUVs, were sold in Russia. The growth compared to January-March of last year was 21%, the analytical agency Autostat reported on April 20.

SUV sales growth turned out to be three times stronger than in the entire Russian car market (+7.3%), and the segment's share increased from 66.4% to 74.8% over the year. Three out of four cars sold in the country are crossovers or SUVs, analysts said.

Haval became the most popular brand in the segment with a result of 35.6 thousand cars in three months. This is followed by Tenet (27.9 thousand units), Lada (12.8 thousand units) and Geely (15.4 thousand units), as well as Belgee (10.8 thousand units). These brands account for over half of all crossovers and SUVs sold in the country.

The Tenet T7 (14.3 thousand units) turned out to be the best-selling crossover in the model rating, followed by Haval Jolion (14.2 thousand units), Tenet T4 (11.2 thousand units), Lada Niva Travel SUV (10 thousand units) and Belgee X50 crossover (7.9 thousand units).

Earlier on this day, it was reported that by the end of the 16th week of this year, slightly more than 23 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 7.3% less than a week earlier. According to Sergey Tselikov, director of Autostat, the country's car market took another step back last week.
