Makarov spoke about the ruthless and elusive hero in the detective story "The Rooks"

The action-packed detective story "Grachi", which premieres on April 26 on the REN TV channel and the online platform Wink, tells about the confrontation with the enemy in post-war Leningrad. Natalia Oskerko, a correspondent for Izvestia, told the details of the filming process on April 20.

The film's authors tried to recreate the atmosphere of 1947 with reliable accuracy, paying special attention to costumes, cars and even ships of that time — every detail was thought out.

"He also masterfully changes clothes, repaints, beards, glasses, moustache. He is a professional of the highest level, but he directs all his skills, all his professionalism to one thing: to achieve his goal — to own. To what heights of human baseness can a person reach in pursuit of material things," said actor Alexei Makarov, who plays Pavel Vedernikov.

His character is an exemplary family man and a fish farm technologist, who in fact turns out to be a former assistant to the commandant of the Grachi children's concentration camp, where the Nazis were brutal. He is a cold-blooded, ruthless and elusive criminal who masterfully changes his appearance.

He is opposed by the captain of the criminal investigation department, Ratnikov, played by Artyom Tkachenko. For him, the capture of this criminal becomes not just an official task, but a personal story.

"I hope that the viewer will feel what I felt when reading this script, and the poignancy and depth of this story will somehow be reflected in it. She talks about the personal tragedy of each particular family, because war is not just a universal disaster, but the pain of each individual," Tkachenko shared.

The series also starred Evgenia Dmitrieva, who admitted that she carefully studied the details of the 1947 forensic examination, consulting with doctors and studying information on the Internet in order to embody the image as reliably as possible.

Director Ilya Maksimov noted that "The Rooks" is a story about how, in difficult circumstances, some remain human, while others become animals, and responsibility will surely come for their choice. A spy detective with a puzzle plot and a stellar cast keeps you in suspense until the end credits, while simultaneously raising deep and important questions.
