- The British Foreign Ministry called for the full resumption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said that despite the ceasefire, the Strait of Hormuz has not yet returned to normal operation. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on April 18.
"We are at a critical diplomatic moment: a truce is in effect now, but we do not yet have a normal passage through the strait," the agency quoted her as saying.
At the same time, Cooper called on Tehran to allow the full resumption of global shipping. The truce, she said, should develop into a lasting peace and shipping is an urgent task for the global economy.
On this day, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, a representative of the central headquarters of the Iranian military command Khatam al-Anbiya, said that the Iranian Armed Forces had restored military control over the Strait of Hormuz due to the blockade by the United States. Also on the eve of the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Bagai, said that Iran would take retaliatory measures if the United States did not lift the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.
On the same day, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that the passage through the Strait of Hormuz was open to commercial vessels due to the truce between Lebanon and Israel. He added that the movement of ships is ensured along the route agreed upon by the Organization of Ports and Maritime Transport of Iran.
