The official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk, posted on the MAX messenger on April 18 footage of the arrest of a man who shot police officers in the Orenburg region.
The detainee confessed that he had offered armed resistance during the arrest. He clarified that he had fired at law enforcement officers with a stripped-down Kalashnikov assault rifle, which he had purchased in a store and subsequently redone on his own.
On the same day, Volk reported that law enforcement agencies had detained an attacker who had shot at police officers near Orenburg. According to her, the person involved was discovered and blocked by a squad of the State Traffic Inspectorate in the area of the village of Beloshapka.
On April 16, a shootout took place in the Orenburg region during the arrest of an attacker. As a result of the incident, senior police Lieutenant Nikita Gnusin was killed, and three other officers were injured. The murdered law enforcement officer turned 28 on the day of the tragedy.
A criminal case was opened into the attack on the security forces. The shooter turned out to be 52-year-old Sergey Basalaev. He fled the scene of the crime. According to the Izvestia source, the criminal grew and stored 48 grams of hashish oil and almost 900 grams of marijuana at home. He has already been brought to justice. Four villages were closed in the search area for the fugitive. Investigators found Basalaev's car, assuming that he had disappeared into the mountains.
