Sales of hybrid cars in Russia increased by 127%
In the first quarter of 2026, almost 13.6 thousand new plug-in hybrid vehicles (with PHEV and EREV type power plants) were registered in Russia. Sales of such cars increased 2.3 times (or 127%) compared to January–March last year, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said in his Telegram channel on April 16.
Most often, Russians bought cars of the Chinese Voyah brand among such cars. Its sales increased 2.5 times and reached 3,038 units. Next are Geely (2,291 units) and the Russian brand Evolute (1977 units). As the expert noted, all these brands have a Russian or Belarusian assembly, so they can offer competitive prices.
At the same time, sales of the former leader of the hybrid segment, Lixiang, dropped significantly (-39%) and amounted to only 1,416 units. The Swedish-Chinese brand Lynk & Co rounded out the top five (938 units; +1637%).
Among the models, the Russian-built Voyah Free (2,466 units) became the bestseller in the segment. Next are the Evolute I-Space (1977 units), which is also produced in Russia, and the Geely EX5 EM-I of Belarusian assembly (302 units). Lynk & Co 900, Geely Galaxy Starship 7, GAC S7 and Lixiang L7 are next, Zeekr 9X, Exeed Exlantix ET and Lixiang L7 rounded out the top ten.

According to experts, in the first quarter of this year, Russians most often considered buying new cars worth 2-3 million and 3-5 million rubles — each of them accounted for 29% of the audience's attention. At the same time, the share of the segment of 3-5 million rubles increased by 3.7 percentage points (percentage points), and the segment of 5-8 million rubles — by 2.5 percentage points.
