- French opposition politician was not allowed to have a meal with supporters in Brussels
On April 15, Florian Philippot, the leader of the French opposition Patriots party, was not allowed into a restaurant to have a meal with supporters in the Belgian capital of Brussels — the establishment was cordoned off by police. He told about this in a video message on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
"We haven't seen anything like this yet! Pure nonsense… Goodbye, freedom of speech," Philippot commented on the incident.
The politician noted that the mayor of the commune issued a municipal decree prohibiting the meeting 45 minutes before the start of the event.
"In the end, I had to improvise and hold a meeting right on the street. Well, we are in the land of surrealism after all," Philippot said.
He also pointed out that the pressure on him was due to the fact that the Patriots party had filed a complaint in the Pfizer case against the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
On April 12, Filippo called for an end to the financing of Ukraine in response to a video of a violent attempt to mobilize several men on the street. Philippot stressed that Paris should not finance a "criminal and mafia regime."
