Traffic police of Dagestan are working in an enhanced mode against the background of the elimination of the consequences of a powerful flood that struck the republic. The main forces are focused on ensuring safety on the restored highways and assistance to citizens. This was reported to Izvestia on April 14 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Areas that were completely flooded or blocked off a week ago due to landslides and mudslides are in the zone of special attention. At the moment, traffic is open on all previously closed sections of roads, the State Traffic Inspectorate noted. The patrol escorts convoys with construction materials and humanitarian aid, ensuring unhindered passage of columns, helping to evacuate citizens from areas where there is a risk of rockfall.

Traffic inspectors also distribute drinking water to drivers and passengers traveling to the mountainous regions of the republic, assist in the evacuation of equipment from flooded farms, regulate the passage of vehicles bypassing destroyed and restored sections of roads, promptly transmit information about the condition of roads to public utilities for their clearance. The State Traffic Inspectorate urged drivers to understand the time restrictions.

"Due to heavy rainfall, landslides and rockfalls have been recorded in the region. The threat of new collapses remains. We ask you to refrain from traveling to mountainous areas unless absolutely necessary," the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry stressed.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Dagestan, currently 508 residential buildings, 523 household plots and 39 sections of highways remain flooded in six settlements of the republic.

On April 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a list of instructions to eliminate the consequences of floods in Dagestan. The Head of State instructed to include representatives of federal authorities, executive bodies of Dagestan, as well as Deputy Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District Marat Ramazanov in the commission. Alexander Kurenkov, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, was appointed Chairman of the commission.
