The United States "may look into" Cuba after it deals with Iran. This was announced on April 13 by the American leader Donald Trump.

"Maybe we'll even look at Cuba after we finish here (in Iran. — Ed.)," Trump said on the Fox News channel.

The head of the White House also called Cuba a failed state and noted that the republic had been poorly governed for many years. In addition, the American leader expressed the opinion that Cuba has a bad and repressive system.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said yesterday that the republic does not want to go to war with the United States. He stressed that the invasion of the island would lead to serious costs and would affect the security of not only Cuba, but also the United States.

White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said on April 8 that negotiations between the United States and Cuba were continuing, with the participation of top-level officials of the American government. She also noted that the republic is in a very weak economic and financial situation.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
