- The President of Cuba declared the republic's unwillingness to fight with the United States
Cuba does not want to go to war with the United States. This was announced on April 12 by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel.
"Let me repeat it again. That's not what we want. We don't want a war. We don't want an attack," he said in an interview with NBC News.
The President stressed that the invasion of Cuba will lead to serious costs and will affect the security of not only Cuba, but also the United States. Diaz-Canel added that in case of aggression, a struggle will begin and Cuba will defend itself.
He also noted that deals with the US government are possible, although this is a difficult task. According to him, Cuba remains open to foreign investment in oil exploration and production, and this is an opportunity for American business.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said on April 8 that negotiations between the United States and Cuba were continuing, with the participation of top-level officials of the American government. She also noted that the Cuban regime is in a very weak economic and financial situation.
On February 17, US President Donald Trump announced that a military operation against Cuba would not be difficult, but it was not necessary. According to him, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is participating in the negotiations on behalf of the United States.
