The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said on April 12 that Islamabad would continue to mediate negotiations between the American and Iranian sides.
"We hope that both sides will continue to act in a positive manner to achieve lasting peace. <...> It is imperative that all sides fulfill their commitments to a cease—fire," the message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
It is noted that the organizer of the negotiations expressed gratitude to both delegations for their participation in the meeting and involvement in the consultation process.
On April 11, American leader Donald Trump announced the official start of negotiations. Later, he said that the United States would resume attacks on Iran in the event of a failure of negotiations in Islamabad on the settlement of the war.
Vice President of the United States Jay Dee Vance said on April 12 that the Iranian and American sides had not reached a common agreement during negotiations in Islamabad. According to Vance, the American side does not yet see Iran's readiness to abandon the development of nuclear weapons. He added that the United States was flexible enough during the negotiations, and also clearly outlined its red lines and those issues where compromise is possible.
