The energy crisis in Europe may lead to a desire to restore purchases of Russian energy resources. This was announced on April 11 by German journalist Wolfgang Munchau.

"Here's my forecast. You may think that this is wrong from a moral point of view, but before the Europeans start suffering from a shortage of energy resources, and if they have the opportunity— they will receive gas from Russia. That's what I think will happen eventually," Munchau said on the Econoclasts YouTube channel.

According to him, the complete abandonment of Russian gas, nuclear energy and the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz could lead to "absolutely devastating" consequences for the European economy.

"This is exactly the kind of crisis Europe will plunge into. And if Europe finds itself in this crisis, I expect it to change its mind [about the ban on Russian energy resources]. Or at least some European countries will decide to resume ties with Russia. I believe that Germany and Italy may well turn out to be countries that will reflect on the strategy [of cooperation with Russia]," the German journalist concluded.
