More than ten people affected by the crimes of American financier Jeffrey Epstein have accused US First Lady Melania Trump of shifting the burden of further proceedings onto them. The reason was the president's wife's call for Congress to organize public hearings with the victims. This was reported on April 11 by The Guardian.

The appeal of a group of 13 people, as well as relatives of human rights activist Virginia Giuffre, who accused Prince Andrew of violence and later committed suicide, says that the victims have already shown great courage — they have already testified and written statements. According to the authors of the statement, demanding new public appearances from them means avoiding real actions.

In addition, the financier's victims indicated that additional hearings could cause them new psychological trauma. They insist that the investigation should be handled exclusively by government agencies — the Ministry of Justice and the police, and not put this burden on the victims.

Epstein's files began to be published on December 20 last year, after the US president signed a bill on their publication on November 19 of the same year.

On February 14, former U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi published a list of more than 300 names of famous people who are mentioned in the files on the financier's case. It was clarified that the text contains the names of the 42nd American president Bill Clinton, the 46th head of state Joe Biden, one of the founders of Microsoft, Bill Gates, as well as singer Beyonce.

Sky News reported on March 6 that the U.S. Department of Justice has released additional documents related to the Epstein case. Earlier, Western media claimed that the American agency had concealed dozens of FBI interviews with Epstein's victims. It is reported that after publications in the media, the documents became available again.

Melania Trump on April 9 called on Congress to hold public hearings for Epstein's victims. In addition, she denied her connection with the financier. According to the first lady of the United States, these rumors discredit the reputation.
