- The Archpriest reminded about the possibility of consecrating any meal on Holy Saturday.
On Holy Saturday, before the Easter service, cakes and eggs are consecrated in churches, but you can bring any other food. This was announced on April 11 by the head of the ROC Educational Committee, Archpriest Maxim Kozlov.
He noted that on the afternoon after the liturgy on Holy Saturday (April 11 this year) and, as a rule, before the evening service begins, the clergy consecrate food in churches, which can be consumed at the end of the fast.
"Traditionally, this food includes cakes, eggs, and cheese—based pasties, which were forbidden to eat during Lent. But it is not forbidden to cover any other food," said Father Maxim Kozlov in an interview with RIA Novosti.
On April 4, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the State University of Enlightenment, biologist Irina Lyalina, spoke about the rules for choosing high-quality Easter cakes. They are not recommended to be purchased in spontaneous markets without the necessary documents, as well as in places of sale where storage conditions are violated and there is no information about the composition of the product.
