Sales of new German cars in Russia increased 2.5 times
In Russia, in the first quarter of 2026, sales of 2.5 times more new cars of German brands than in the same period last year. In total, almost 12.5 thousand brand cars from Germany were sold in January-March, compared to 4,887 units in the quarter a year earlier. This was reported on April 9 by the analytical agency Autostat.
BMW became the most popular German brand among Russians at the beginning of the year, with sales of 3,873 vehicles, an increase of 91%. Volkswagen is in second place, with a 4.5-fold increase to 3,361 units.
Mercedes-Benz is in third place (2,373 units; +82%), followed by Audi (2,339 units; an increase of 5.5 times) and Porsche (444 units; +23%).
In the model rating, the top three among German models were formed by BMW X5, Audi Q5 and Volkswagen Tiguan crossovers, only they surpassed the mark of 1 thousand units sold.
Analysts recalled that currently German cars are not officially represented on the Russian market and are supplied according to alternative schemes. The share of German-made passenger cars in sales increased from 2% to 4.7% over the year.
Earlier, on April 7, it was reported that in the first quarter of this year, sales of new Toyota cars soared by 111%, while Mazda's figures increased almost 14 times.
