American leader Donald Trump accepted most of the demands of the Iranian side under pressure from American society, which has become "unbearable" due to rising gasoline prices in the country. This was stated on April 8 by American political scientist and journalist Garland Nixon in an interview with Izvestia.

"Donald Trump realized that he would not be able to force Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz, and the internal pressure from Americans paying ever higher gasoline prices became unbearable, he was forced to eventually accept most of Iran's demands," he said.

According to Nixon, Trump either underestimated Iran's capabilities or overestimated the American army. In addition, the political scientist noted that the military operation of the United States and Israel initially did not enjoy broad public support.

In addition, the expert added that the Iranian side, in turn, has shown a high level of military power.

"He has demonstrated that he is a world-class military power with advanced technology. And, just as importantly, he made it clear that he controls the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important bottlenecks in world trade," Nixon said.

In addition, the political scientist suggested that in the future there may come a time when Tel Aviv and Washington will cease to be allies. According to him, Israel risks becoming a rogue state.

On April 7, Trump announced that he had agreed to suspend strikes on Iran for another two weeks. He also explained that the condition for this was the complete unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz, and Tehran would fulfill this. The head of the White House said that the United States had received a 10-point proposal from Iran to resolve the conflict. Washington is ready to continue working on its basis.

Later, the SNN TV channel, citing an order from the Supreme leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, reported that negotiations between the United States and Iran on working out the terms of a peace agreement would be held in Islamabad.
