New car sales in Russia continued to grow

According to the results of the 14th week of this year, slightly more than 31 thousand new passenger cars were registered in Russia. This is 8% more than a week earlier. At the same time, the increase was 27% compared to the same week last year. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this on April 6 in his Telegram channel.

Growth was also recorded in the segment of light commercial vehicles (LCVs). Compared to the previous week, registrations increased by 21%, to 1.5 thousand units. However, compared to the same week last year, the indicator decreased by 22%. In the truck segment, the market gained a foothold above the 1,000-unit mark (-1% compared to the previous week and -15% compared to the same week last year).

The analyst also pointed to growth in the motorcycle segment — 2,274 new motorcycles were registered during the week, which is 32% more than in the previous week and 24% more than in the 14th week of 2025.

"Last week, Monday and Tuesday were the "closing days of the quarter." These days, dealers traditionally have the maximum "issue" of cars to receive bonuses. Therefore, we will find out more precisely whether the car market continues to grow in April next Monday," Tselikov explained.

In the first month of spring 2026, 104.3 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 30.6% more than in March 2025. This result was the best since the beginning of 2026. By the end of March this year, Lada Granta family cars continue to excel in the Russian car market: in early spring, 9,861 units of Granta cars were sold, including those produced on its basis.
