A local accumulation of petroleum products has been discovered near the village of Logi in the Kingisepp district of the Leningrad Region on the shore of the Gulf of Finland. This was announced on April 5 by the head of the State Environmental Supervision Committee of the region Ramila Agayeva.

"This morning, the committee's specialists discovered a local accumulation of petroleum products on the coastline near the village of Logi in the Kingisepp district. <...> At the moment, the pollution is localized, that is, its expansion has been stopped, and it does not pose a threat to nearby territories," Agayeva said on the Telegram channel.

Monitoring of the coastline was organized on behalf of Governor Alexander Drozdenko. The head of the region ordered to allocate funds from the reserve fund for the elimination of pollution. In the near future, it is planned to conclude an agreement with a specialized organization with its own fleet to promptly eliminate possible environmental threats in the future.

On March 2, scientists proposed using fire vortices to clear the ocean of oil. It was clarified that to test the hypothesis, scientists built a special 4.8-meter three-wall structure at a landfill in Texas. A pool with crude oil on the surface of the water was placed in the center.
