In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the state of emergency (emergency), introduced in January due to the fall of an abnormal amount of snow, was canceled. Mayor Evgeny Belyaev announced this on Thursday, April 2.

"Due to the elimination of the circumstances that served as the basis for the introduction of the "Emergency Situation" mode of operation, it was decided to cancel it from today," the mayor explained.

According to the KamchatkaMedia news agency, the decision to cancel the emergency regime was made at a meeting of the emergency commission held on April 1. In the future, the maintenance of roads and streets, as well as putting the city in order as a whole after the abnormal winter, will be carried out on a daily basis. Clean-up days will start on April 3.

A series of powerful cyclones hit Kamchatka in late December. By mid-January, more than 4.5 months of precipitation had fallen in the south, and snowdrifts in some areas exceeded 2.5 m.

On January 15, two people died under snow in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and it was decided to introduce an emergency regime on the 16th. Since that moment, more than 500,000 cubic meters of snow have been removed from the main and inner-city thoroughfares of the capital of Kamchatka, which has become, as the mayor noted, an unprecedented amount.
