Japan announces talks with Russia on resuming purchases of Russian oil
The Japanese delegation may discuss the purchase of Russian oil during its visit to Russia, which is scheduled for May. This was reported by the Ryukyu Shimpo newspaper on April 2.
"The government plans to send an economic delegation to Russia, expecting that Japanese companies will fully resume their activities there after the conflict in Ukraine," the publication says.
The newspaper writes that invitations were also sent to top managers of major Japanese companies, including Mitsubishi Corporation, Mitsui & Co. and Mitsui O.S.K.Lines. It is noted that during the visit, the Japanese delegation may also raise the issue of Russian oil supplies to Japan.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said on March 31 that Russia would not supply oil to Japan and other countries that support anti-market measures to maintain the price ceiling.
