- Overchuk pointed to the cautious attitude of Russian business towards doing business with Armenia
Russian business is showing increased caution in matters of economic cooperation with Armenia amid discussions about the republic's possible accession to the European Union. This was announced on Wednesday, April 1, by Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.
According to him, by the end of 2025, the indicators of mutual trade showed a sharp decrease. The volume of trade decreased from $12 billion to $6.4 billion. Overchuk believes that such losses were a direct result of Yerevan's political rhetoric.
"I have said this many times to our Armenian colleagues that our business is very cautious about doing business with Armenia because of these talks about joining the European Union," he said on Channel One.
He added that in fact, discussions on European integration have led to the fact that Russia and Armenia have jointly lost more than $5 billion.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Armenia's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the European Union (EU) is simply impossible. Putin also noted that Moscow is calm about the development of relations between Yerevan and Brussels.
